How to set up Felix in Fello
Set up Felix step by step, from giving Felix a presence to going live with calls, texts, and email.
Before you start
Setting up Felix is a guided, one-time flow that gives Felix a presence and turns on the skills that work your database. You complete it yourself, and it takes only a few minutes. Once you finish, Felix builds a plan for each contact and starts reaching out.
🗒️ Note: Felix setup is available to account owners and admins. Once you complete setup it cannot be rolled back, though you can edit any part of the configuration afterward. Learn more about roles and permissions.
To begin, go to Felix AI from the left sidebar and select Let's get started.
In this guide:
- Give Felix a presence
- Confirm your business details
- Felix's contact card
- Living Database
- Turn on Nurture
- Add Sales Agent (optional)
- Enroll contacts for Sales Agent
- Set your outreach window
- Set your opening greeting
- Set up call transfer routing
- Register your business for calling and texting
- Set up handoff
- Go live
Give Felix a presence
The first step is Felix's identity: a name, a face, a voice, and a personality. This is how your contacts experience Felix on every channel, and the name you choose appears as the sender across calls, emails, and texts.
- Enter a Name, or use the generate button to get a Random name or to Describe the style you want.
- Set a profile photo: generate a Random look, Describe the look, or Upload your own image.
- Select a Voice and play the sample to hear it.
- Choose a personality: Full (expressive and proactive), Balanced (grounded and personable), or Refined (professional and measured).
- Select Continue.
🗒️ Note: Changing the voice does not regenerate the name or photo. Use the generate buttons to refresh those.
🗒️ Note: You give Felix a name, face, voice, and personality even if you do not add Sales Agent. The voice is used on calls once Sales Agent is active.
Confirm your business details
Felix uses your business context to decide what to say and why. Review what Felix picked up about your business.

- If the details are correct, select This is right.
- To make edits, select Make changes. In Edit business details, enter your website and select Analyze Website to auto-fill, then review and edit your Business Name, Industry, Business Overview, the products or services you specialize in, the areas you serve, and what makes you the right choice.
- Select Done.
Felix's contact card
Felix gets a direct line, shown on a contact card you can save to your phone and share with your team.
- Select Add to my contacts to save the card, or Skip.

🗒️ Note: The direct line is where warm transfers and alerts to you come from. When Felix reaches out to your contacts, Felix uses a separate pool of numbers, so the direct line stays reserved for your team.
Share Felix's contact card with your team
Text the contact card to teammates so Felix's number is saved on their phones. When the number is saved, they are more likely to answer when Felix transfers a live call.
You can share it two ways:
- During setup: on this step, select Share with my team.

- Anytime after setup: go to Felix AI from the left sidebar. On Felix's card in the left panel, select Share, then Share with team. (The same menu has Download photo to save Felix's headshot for marketing.)

Both open the share panel:
- Review the Contact Card Preview and the SMS Message teammates will receive.

- Under Select Team Members, choose who to send it to. Everyone eligible is selected by default. Use Deselect All to start from none.
- Select Share with [number] Recipients to send.
🗒️ Note: Sharing Felix's contact card is available to account owners and admins. Only teammates with a phone number on file can be selected as recipients. Anyone without one is greyed out and labeled "No Phone Number Present."
Living Database
Living Database turns on automatically for your entire database, with no extra setup. It continuously enriches and monitors every contact and property, and the signals it detects feed Felix's other skills. Learn more about Living Database.
- Select Looks good, keep going.

Turn on Nurture
Nurture sends personalized one-to-one marketing email across your active database, minus any contacts you exclude. Completing this step turns Nurture on.
- Review who Felix will market to, then select Looks good, keep going.

🗒️ Note: Nurture only sends if you turn it on during setup. Learn more about Felix Nurture.
Add Sales Agent (optional)
With Nurture and Living Database on, your database stays warm and current. Sales Agent is the optional add-on that handles one-to-one calls, texts, and emails. You can add it now or anytime later.
- To add it now, select Add Sales Agent, review the capacity and cost, then confirm. The remaining setup steps configure Sales Agent.
- To finish without it, continue past this step. Felix goes live with Nurture and Living Database, and you can add Sales Agent later from Settings > Billing.
🗒️ Note: Adding Sales Agent opens the same review used in Settings > Billing (choose your Sales Agent capacity, review the summary, then confirm). Learn how to add Sales Agent.
Enroll contacts for Sales Agent
Sales Agent is Felix's one-to-one outreach across calls, texts, and emails. In this step you decide who Felix works and who Felix skips.
Under Who Felix works, choose one:
- Let Felix decide (recommended): Felix picks the highest-intent contacts from your database, up to your plan's capacity, and queues new high-intent contacts automatically.
- Pick your own segments: choose specific segments to scope Felix's outreach.
Under Who Felix skips, review the default exclusions (such as Currently On Market, No Phone Number, Junk contacts, Real Estate Professionals, and Consent not available). Remove any with the trash icon, or select Create your own exclusion to add more.
Select the consent checkbox to confirm you have explicit permission to contact the people Felix will reach out to. This is required. Then select Continue.
🗒️ Note: If a contact appears in both who Felix works and who Felix skips, the exclusion wins and Felix does not contact them.
Set your outreach window
Choose the days and hours Felix can place outbound calls and send texts.
- For each day, turn the day on or off and set the start and end times. By default, Felix works Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with Saturday and Sunday off.
- Set your Timezone. The window is based on your account's timezone, not each contact's local time.
- Select Looks good.
🗒️ Note: Felix pauses outbound calls and texts on major US holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. Inbound never sleeps: Felix picks up if a contact calls the direct line, and replies once to an inbound text. Outbound stays inside your window.
🗒️ Note: Make sure your outreach window follows federal and state regulations.
Set your opening greeting
Choose how Felix introduces itself on outbound calls. A live preview updates as you change each option.
- Announce the call is recorded adds "on a recorded line" to the opening. Recommended for transparency, and for two-party-consent states.
- Announce I'm a digital assistant discloses up front that Felix is an AI. With it off, this can come up naturally if a contact asks.
- Select Looks good.
🗒️ Note: Make sure your opening greeting follows federal and state regulations.
💡 Tip: You can fine-tune the opening line anytime under Sales Agent configuration. Learn more about Felix Sales Agent.
Set up call transfer routing
When a contact is ready to talk, Felix transfers the call to your team. Choose where the call goes:
- Assigned user: the teammate who owns the contact. Set a Fallback user for unassigned contacts so a call always has somewhere to go.
- Specific user: always send to one person.
- Shared inbox: route to a team inbox. Choose an existing inbox, or select Create new inbox, give it a Name, and add up to 30 members. Teammates without a Copilot seat are assigned one when you add them. Learn more about shared inboxes.
- Select Looks good.
🗒️ Note: Felix uses warm transfers by default, introducing the contact before handing the call over. Warm transfers come from Felix's direct line. Learn more about handoffs and warm transfers.
Register your business for calling and texting
Carriers require your business details before Felix can call and text on the Sales Agent line. Enter:
- Business EIN (format XX-XXXXXXX). Find it on your IRS determination letter or a business tax document.
- Company type: Limited Liability Corporation, Corporation, or Sole Proprietorship. Match what is on your IRS registration.
- Authorized contact: the full name, email, and phone of the person carriers can verify. This is prefilled from the account owner.
- Select Submit and continue.
🗒️ Note: Calls and emails start right away. Texting turns on once carrier registration clears. Learn more about business registration and texting.
Set up handoff
When a conversation is ready for a person, Felix loops you in and tags the contact.
- Choose who gets notified: Just my handoffs notifies you only when Felix hands off one of your contacts; Every handoff notifies you on every handoff in the account.
- Felix also turns on a Felix Handoff workflow that runs on every handoff and applies handoff tags, so you can trigger your own follow-up from it.
- Select Looks good.
🗒️ Note: Each teammate sets their own handoff alerts in Settings > Notifications. Learn how to manage notifications.
Go live
This is the last step.
If you finished without Sales Agent, Nurture and Living Database are live. Felix nurtures your active database by email and keeps your contact and property data current. Felix does not call or text until you add Sales Agent.
If you added Sales Agent, Felix builds each contact's plan and starts outreach. Calls and emails run right away, and texting starts once carrier registration clears. Select Go to dashboard, or open Conversations, the Sales Agent report, or the Nurture report.
