Business registration and texting (10DLC) in Fello
Register your business with carriers to turn on texting and improve how often your calls are answered.
To send text messages from a business number in the US, carriers require you to register your business first. This is known as 10DLC registration. In Fello, completing it turns on texting across your account: the numbers Felix uses to reach your contacts and your team's Copilot lines. It also makes your calls more likely to be answered.
You can register in two places: while setting up Felix, or anytime from your account settings. For most accounts it is handled during onboarding.

Why business registration is required
US carriers require every business to register before it can send application-to-person text messages (automated text messaging) from a standard 10-digit number. This is the 10DLC standard, and it applies to real estate businesses the same as any other.
Registration does two things in Fello:
- Enables texting: Felix can send SMS to your contacts only after your registration is approved.
- Improves call delivery: Registered numbers are less likely to be flagged, so your calls are more likely to be answered.
What you need
Have these details ready before you start:
- Business EIN: Your Employer Identification Number, formatted as XX-XXXXXXX. You can find it on your IRS determination letter or any business tax document.
- Company type: Your business structure, either Limited Liability Corporation, Corporation, or Sole Proprietorship. Match what is on your IRS registration.
- Authorized contact: A person carriers can verify if they have questions about the registration. This is prefilled from the account owner and includes a full name, email, and phone number.
🗒️ Note: Your legal business name and EIN must match IRS records exactly. See how to find them, enter them correctly, or get an EIN if you do not have one.
🗒️ Note: Your EIN and legal business name are also stored under Settings > Account Defaults > Company, where they are used for carrier registration. Keeping them accurate there helps registration go through.
How to register
You only need to register once. Use one of the following paths to register based on where you are with your account's onboarding – either during Felix setup or from your account settings.
During Felix setup:

Here's how to complete it:
- Enter your Business EIN.
- Select your Company type from the dropdown.
- Confirm the Authorized Contact details, and edit the full name, email, or phone if needed.
- Click Submit and continue.
From your account settings
If your onboarding is already complete, or you would rather register outside the setup flow, you can register from settings. Set your legal business name first, then submit your registration.
- Go to Settings > Account > Company Profile and confirm your Legal Business Name matches your IRS records exactly. Learn how to set up your company profile

- Go to Settings > Account > Phone.
- Click Continue to start business registration.

- Enter your Business EIN, select your Company type, and confirm the Authorized Contact details.
- Review the details, then click Continue to submit.
What happens after you submit
Calls and emails start working right away. They do not depend on registration.
Texting turns on once carriers approve your registration. You do not need to do anything else while that completes.
Once approved, a green Compliance Approved banner appears on Settings > Phone, confirming texting is enabled. Learn more about phone numbers and Copilot seats.
